it was amazing
Read from April 09 to 10, 2016

I loved it, fast paced with lots going on from the start. Kylie is self sufficient because she had to be, suddenly her life becomes a frantic chase to get to her brother and safety. Very quickly it becomes apparent she needs help, Devin, her brothers friend is close and steps in. He feels he owes something to her brother and will do anything to try to pay that back. A great story and another credit to the MacKenzie series, a lot of the authors writing these add on books are also using them to kick-start new series of their own so look out for the titles at the end of the books. I can see a lot more books going on my TBR list as each of these have had me engrossed, hooked from page one to the end. There are not any cliff hangers and each can be read as a stand alone, but are so much better with the added knowledge of the MacKenzie series.

I first read this in the early stages and loved it, I promised to re-read once it had been edited and released. I'm glad I did, this book is amazingly good. The first book introduced us to Mic and the team, getting straight into a mission and training. The ending was a slight shock but you would have to read it to find out why. This second book picks up a little after the end of the first, another new team member, there's a bit more to him than we know at first. you get action almost from the start, the team on a rescue mission. This starts to spiral, its fast paced so no getting bored. Very much a military story so you have guns, explosions, torture as well as the team training. I have trouble picking out what I love most about these books, but I think its the bond that the team have with each other. They know each others strengths and weaknesses, can almost read what's on their minds anticipating the next move each will make. Having a new guy and a fairly new guy doesn't seem to affect that by much, they just slot in like they have always been a part of it only a few minor hick ups. I was as much on the edge of my seat with this re read as I was when I did the early one, there are a few scenes that very tense and almost upsetting. Torture and abuse can be like that its hard reading about any one going through that, but its a part of life in certain areas of military work. There is a little bit of romance in this book which just adds to the story, I cant wait to see where this side of it goes. There is also a lighter side that give us a laugh, one especially had me chuckling. J B has done a fantastic job following through on this second book, after the first I was curious to see if she could match it and she did more than that. This is even better than the first and it also gives a link in to the third, getting you impatient to read that as well just wanting to keep going. I have no hesitation to recommend this series to anyone that likes a military based story with a little romance thrown in

Read from December 31, 2015 to January 01, 2016

this is a reread, I initially read it way back but hadn't done a review on here. I loved the whole series but Colby somehow stuck with me, maybe the way he had taken on a baby that wasn't his or perhaps the way he saves mia. the whole team are hot alpha males, the women strong in their own ways. I love the way they all work together but can still have a joke, theres some tough situations they go into and sometimes they get hurt. that just makes them more human and loveable, Cristen weaves amazing stories that hook you and you want them to go on and not end.

I love all these titan guys and girls and their stories. this one is intense and quite full on in places, well written and the computer stuff well researched. they make a great couple well suited to each other, complementing their work being at the same level. cristen has delivered us another great story from our fav badass guys, looking forward to the next

A great addition to the Cold Fury Series, a young love gone wrong Hawke not understanding why? years later fate intervenes. This really felt like real life, young couples not talking out a problem leading to years of uncertainty and misunderstanding. Vale is dealing with other things as well, with her Dad. I loved Hawke, you cant blame him for holding back a bit after all he didn't know what had happened. He just felt lost and heartbroken, never having got over the abrupt ending to their relationship. You don't get a lot of game play in this story, there are mentions of them and training but nothing more. This story is based more around Vale, Hawke and Dave (Vale's Dad) and the relationship between the three of them, its also about righting wrongs and understanding the whys. Its a nice smooth easy read, yes there are a few heavy topics involved as well but its not a deep or depressing book. Very enjoyable one to just sit down and relax into, forget about everything else and wallow in the story. It was a story I completely lost myself in and truly that's how I like my books most. Next up in the series is Max, and I cant wait. Well done Sawyer for another great book.

Bastards Baby By BB Hamel

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this story very much, March 19, 2016

This review is from: Bastard's Baby (Paperback)
This was an arc copy for an honest review.
This is a Mafia Mob Romance, there is strong language and some violence. The two main characters, a one night hook up and the result of that could be the cause of major trouble. I enjoyed this story very much, the pace is fairly fast so no time to get bored or even wanting to put it down. Russian Mafia clashing with Italian Mafia, Kaley stuck smack bang in the middle just trying to stay safe. Vince all he knows is except his body wants hers, trying to work out if he wants more than that and all that comes with it while also dealing with her family. He also has to worry about his own comrades and whether he has their support or not. These issues are the type that you hear of with gangster families and reprisals against each other, the book itself is easy to read. There is no gore or in depth violence so no need to be squeamish, its mostly about this couple finding their way and working out what they both want while dealing with all the Mob stuff as well. Very explicit sex scenes, but again they are all in proportion to the story so not overly excessive, not making the book all sex and nothing else. Research is good for how the Mafia families function, the rules and regulations and retaliations on each other fits with everything I've ever learned. All in all a great story, not to heavy or dragging it flows at a steady constant rate holding you captivated and wanting to keep reading to the end.

I really like this MC Series, these bikers might be rough an ready all macho alpha males, but they have heart. They don't automatically treat women like something they picked up on their shoe, they read them first. Their mannerisms, actions and speech. If they feel any vibes at all that the women have been abused they automatically go into protection mode, soften their approach, and how they behave with them. Only exception to this is if they feel their own woman is under threat because of the new one, but even then they wouldn't physically hurt her. I already loved Toby And Mack from the first book but this second one strengthened that feeling, these are good men. Yes they are brash, domineering, violent without a thought if protecting their families and they swear. But deep down their is this vulnerable side that just wants love and acceptance for who they are. There is some violence, abuse, sex and cursing, but their is also love, tenderness and a deep understanding between Toby and Sara. It all adds up into a great read that hooks you deep into wanting more of this biker crew, in the hope that they all get their happy

The Second First Chance by Blakely Bennett

This was an early copy given for an honest review.

Wendy's Review 5stars started 1/3/16-finished 3/3 16

This story covers a complex situation, one that I would think many would find hard.
I myself wouldn't, I would jump in feet first. But I am lucky I don't have a child to consider into the equation, Hubby and I have also known and been friends pretty much our whole lives. Knowing the mistakes our other relationships were, I wouldn't hesitate to make sure we carried on from our 13 year old first relationship and cut out the failed others that happened between that and getting back together at 17. To be given a chance to not only put right something that shouldn't have happened, but to start from a different time period to some would be a godsend. This book opens up that idea and flies, the love that Jaydan has for Callahan is just so strong. I feel almost blessed to have read this story, its sad, happy, joyful and loving. Its written with understanding and compassion, but also imagination and maybe gives some hope that this sort of chance is out there for the right couples. For those that find their soul mates. I loved this beautiful, powerful story, yes it made me cry but it also made me smile and it gave me HOPE! Thank you Blakely for a great and inspiring idea that you have turned into such an awesome tale, its one I want to remember for a long long time. (less)

Another great addition to the Stark Series, Nikki and Damian continue with their story and this next twist in their ongoing battle to be happy and live their lives drama free. Not to heavy although some of the subject matter is, but I enjoyed it. I love the glimpses of other characters in the Stark International/ Stark series. I'm hoping that maybe in the next part we get them starting a family, I feel that will complete them both. Maybe calm and focus their insecurities with coping on being parents, and strengthen them even more as a couple. I did enjoy the fact that Damian and Jackson have settled their differences and are now supporting each other and being brothers. this is turning into a loving close mixture of friends becoming their own made up family, being there for each other which most of them have never had before in their lives. All in all this was a fairly gentle read with just enough going on to keep you wanting more

This was an arc copy for an honest review.
This is a great Seal Team, friendly, supportive, efficient, deadly and instinctive of each others moves. They can read each other and have a way of signaling, communicating without words. Tesla is strong, determined, honest, loyal and loving. She is also extremely intelligent and keen to save military lives, even at the risk of her own. She's a fighter determined to do something to stop needless death like her brothers, and to keep up with this team of Seals and not let them down or make their job any harder than it needs to be. There is a lot going on in this story, it keeps you on the edge of your seat and often holding your breathe. The team take her into their hearts firstly because of the amazing stamina that she shows, but also the way she wont take any crap. Although this is a serious issue and some nasty stuff happens it does have a little bit of light heartedness at times which fits with these guys and her. It made it all the more enjoyable during reading when you find yourself having a little chuckle, it eases the tenseness of all that's going on and waiting to see what's going to happen next. There's definitely no getting bored or to relaxed, thinking oh good now we get the happy... def not plenty of twists and turns right till the end.

This is a book of short stories, loosely linked to the Ten commandments. But don't think religion because apart from the first one they have nothing religious about them. For shorties they are good not an awful lot to them but each is a different theme, they all have sexual content. Very handy if you want something light and almost fun to read on a flight without getting to involved. I did enjoy it but I do prefer books with a bit more meat, I love getting lost in my books and this is way to short to do that. Having said that its well written and certainly not boring, I look forward to reading one of C A Bell's full length novels so that I can sink into a great story.

oh boy Cali ! this the 2nd part of the Townsend twins is just as hot and steamy as the first, the twins still hiding the fact that their are 2 of them sharing Phoebe. Also hiding the hidden demons that haunt them both from their past, Phoebe scared that Kevin will find her but also that if he does he will hurt the man she knows as Jackson. I love this story with all the underlying history of abuse and mistreatment on all 3 of the main characters , will Phoebe react badly when/if she finds out the men are actually twins and they have already been sharing her. I do however wish that I had waited, buying the parts and keeping them to read once the whole story was out. I hate the waiting for the next part when you are left hanging on the edge of a major part of the book, if you haven't started this I would recommend buying but wait till the rest of the book comes out, that way you can just read straight through from one part to the next without the breaks. it is well worth it, I will just have to re read the whole thing but that's no hardship either

This is part 3 of 4, the continuing story of Hawke, Archer and Phoebe . She has just found out that what she thought isn't the truth of what is, in even more turmoil than she was with the stuff from her past can she get past this latest twist. Her love not being quite what she though it was, she just cant understand the lies. I was on the edge of my seat again reading this as I was for the first two parts, could the twins persuade her to give them another chance and let them openly love her. I really feel for all three of these characters, each have their own separate issues as well as those they share. Though personally if I had twins wanting to love and equally share me I think I was the luckiest woman alive, I love this threesome I think if they can work thing out it will be a fantastic relationship for all of them. Cali again left me just hanging there at the end and now I have to wait till she has finished part four, I hope it doesn't take to long I really need to know the end now. I would recommend if you haven't started this series buy but wait for the forth part before you read, unless you don't mind cliff hangers and a gap before the next bit. This is a great story concept and I love it, there is a deepness inside each of the characters but there's also this longing for acceptance and love for who each of them are. So love, angst, jealousy, uncertainty and a slight feeling of betrayal with the lies all play a part in keeping you riveted to the end. ENJOY! I did.

I enjoyed this so much I have had to go back and re-read the main book Hot Pursuit. this is the beginning though, Matt and Evie growing up as friends until grown up feelings creep in. Matt trying to ignore them ends up hurting her in a way he never intended. Evie doesn't understand why he is being the way he is, she adores him still. Young love is hard, feelings you don't properly understand at times make it difficult to see the other side or rationalise what's going on. I sometimes wish that authors would just write these books first before the main books, I like to read a series in order so I don't really like going back to before the original. I did with this because Matt and Evie's story was so good it merited learning the beginning of it, but I would recommend that if you haven't started this series then read this prequel first. Its much better that way. I still loved it and it definitely deserved to be written and it made me cry even though I knew the final outcome

Wow, B B does it again, I love her books and you never get bored reading them. this is another in her MC series, though they can be read as individuals. More angst between biker groups mean trying to align with one against others to make them more powerful, but can they trust this group or will it be more trouble than ever. The two main characters have an attraction that has been building for years, but with her being claimed by another acting on it could mean their lives. Hot sex, filthy language, violence in abundance there's no putting this story down. I started it and read till I finished it. I'm hoping there's another book to follow soon as I want more, as always I wasn't disappointed

This series is described as deep dark romance, well the first three books I can honestly sat I didn't notice the romance part. I spotted a glimmer in the fourth, this one is the final of the five part series (so Far). We do get some love and romance in this one, mixed with the violence, abuse, rape and the seeming never ending fear. This one also contains barbarianism and cannibalism, you need a tough stomach at times reading this. We get answers finally on both the betrayals within the bikers and with the undercover agents, the violence is still horrific beyond belief. Despite all of that I did actually enjoy this series, it opened my eyes to things that really happen in true life not that I would want to be any where near any of it. Its hard to imagine reading some of the horrific things these bikers do to Abigail or each other and finding any enjoyment, but its the overall story that follows through all the way. It gets you intrigued, puzzling, wondering then you just have to keep going to get the answers. So finally summing up the whole series, intrigue, mystery, betrayal, hatred, murder, guns, drugs, rape, extreme violence, foul language and last a slight softness just creeping in with a little love, understanding, a small bit of light. But this ride isn't over yet but its now a wait until the next part, will Abigail, Justice, James and the others ever find some peace? I shall stay tuned for news on more.

This whole series is very graphic, violent, intense and in some ways quite scary reading. The women are pretty much property, treated badly and given no say in anything. There are things going on below the surface of this story, that are gradually starting to become clearer as it goes on. When you hear talk of biker gangs this is the type of thing I picture this hard, brash almost uncouth and unkempt men with foul language, thinking nothing of killing another just for a wrong look almost. Despite the violence, swearing and the abuse of women I have enjoyed this series, its dark and extremely edgy
